Before buying an LED Display, it’s important to know which one is right for you, provides high ROI, enduring, and has lesser risk factors. At the end of this blog, we aim to provide you with a more clear understanding of the difference between cabinet-less display and display with cabinet.
A lot of people in the market are offering cabinet-less displays at substantially reduced prices. Let us understand what is a cabinet-less display, Cabinet-less displays are nothing but LED modules without any metal framings. These modules are generally installed directly on plywood. As it doesn’t involve any structure it is offered at a cheaper cost but the product design itself is faulty. Hence, these displays have a long term con, which opens lots of loopholes that can posses safety and quality issues in the future.
Wherein LED Displays with cabinet design have properly framed cabinet from behind that encapsulates all the wires, chips, etc. All of the issues and risks faced by Cabinet-less Display are eradicated in the LED with Cabinet design.
Let us discuss 7 important reasons to understand why you should not choose Cabinet less display over LED with cabinet Design.
Cabinet-less LED displays are installed on handmade structure hence the precision of the structure affects the final alignment for cabinet less screen. In MS cabinets there are interlocks and module positioning holes that can help achieve good alignment. XM Die cast cabinets being completely machine-made have the highest precision with auto fit module mechanism which eliminates the need for the engineer to do any adjustments for alignment.
The flatness of the screen provides a seamless feel to an LED display. A complete flat screen can be achieved through an autofit module mechanism. With Xtreme Media’s Vega series a very high cabinet precision can be achieved within hours. Vega series contains die-cast Aluminium material which not only makes the cabinet precision accurate but also makes it faster. This is difficult and time-consuming to achieve with mild steel (MS) cabinets, which are generally used in any LED video wall. It is nearly impossible to achieve with cabinet less LED screens due to the inherent unevenness of the metal back frame.
Cabinet less design not only affects the aesthetics of LED video walls but also poses safety threats. Since the power supplies and cables are directly mounted on the plywood, any short circuit in the system will cause a fire hazard. In MS and die-cast cabinet design each cabinet has an electrical terminal block. In the case of any short circuit, this internal terminal block is first affected and the power to the cabinet is disconnected. This ensures there are no fire escalated or safety hazards present.
Cabinet less design is nothing, but modules directly installed without any framework, the various components in the cabinet less screen do not go through quality control tests. Failure points like faulty modules, power supplies, cables, controllers, etc. can be encountered only when the complete screen is installed at the client location. These leaves a high margin of errors on-site and the overall installation time and output could go haywire.
While installing cabinet less LED video wall there is an open space between the plywood and the modules which carry a risk of being exposed to rats, insects, etc. This increases the chance of wires/cables being cut off and resulting in a short circuit. Over time, dust can accumulate inside the power supplies resulting in increased failures. Xtreme Media’s Vega or Kore series cabinets are properly framed eliminating all these risks.
The aluminum body of die-cast cabinet enables faster dissipation of heat through the entire body. Even mild-steel provides a decent scope to create ventilation that can manage the heat created but this is not at all possible in the cabinet less design.
The quality and safety certifications are provided for cabinets such as MS and die-cast and not for modules. Having no certification for modules increases the chances of unqualified products being sold to customers which possess serious quality problems, electrical and fire safety risks for the customers.
Remember these 7 important differences that you should be aware of when choosing between cabinet-less displays and displays with the cabinet design.
